Eye Muscle Exercises - September 5th, 2009

As I have gotten older I have noticed that my eyesight is getting worse.  That has made me squint.  I notice lines forming around my eyes.  I have tried eye creams but honestly, they can be expensive.   So, I decided to try something new which is doing eye exercises.  I spend a lot of time at the computer so I experience some eye strain as well.  That was starting to concern me so I did a little research and came up with the following advice:

When I am reading or working at a computer, I occasionally take a minute to look out the window at a distant object, and study the details of that object.  This allow my eye muscles to relax.  Blankly staring out the window does not make the eye tissues return to their natural shape but focusing on details does.  I do this once every thirty minutes or so for about a minute at a time.  It takes very little effort and helps to preserve my vision and make the muscles under the skin around my eyes get a little rest. This helps with wrinkles.

I wear corrective lenses so I make sure to take them off whenever theya re not needed, which gives my eyes an opportunity to work naturally, esp. when I am outdoors where the eyes can also receive full-spectrum light. Face exerciese can’t replace a good wrinkle cream, but they can help.
